Braces Auckland
Braces in Auckland — Specialist-Led, Evidence-Based Treatment
Braces remain the most versatile and effective orthodontic appliance available. When fitted and managed by a registered specialist orthodontist, they can correct a wider range of problems — more predictably and more completely — than any other single treatment option. At Parnell Orthodontics, braces are not a default or a fallback. They are selected when they are the right tool for the job, and managed with a level of clinical precision grounded in over 130 peer-reviewed publications in orthodontic biomechanics.
What types of braces are available at Parnell Orthodontics?
We offer four types of fixed appliances, each suited to different clinical needs and patient preferences.
Which type of braces is right for you?
This is a clinical question, not a preference question — and it is one Dr Adith answers individually for every patient based on a thorough examination of your teeth, bite, bone, and treatment goals. Some cases are genuinely suited to any of the above options. Others are better served by a specific system. At your free consultation, Dr Adith will recommend the appliance that will achieve the best result for your individual situation, and explain why.

How long does brace treatment take?
Most patients complete treatment in 18 to 24 months, though simpler cases can be finished in 12 months and complex cases may take longer. Treatment duration depends primarily on the nature of your malocclusion, your compliance with appointments and oral hygiene, and whether any extractions or auxiliary appliances are involved. We use 3D digital scanning and treatment planning software to give you a realistic, personalised timeline at the outset
What does brace treatment cost in Auckland?
At Parnell Orthodontics, comprehensive brace treatment is priced between $8,900 and $14,900 depending on the complexity of your case and the appliance chosen. Your quote is fully inclusive — there are no additional fees for adjustment appointments, emergency repairs, or your final retainers. We offer a 5% discount for upfront payment and 0% interest-free payment plans over 12 to 18 months through QCard and GemVisa

Life with braces — what to expect
Getting braces fitted is painless. You may experience some tenderness for a few days after placement and following adjustment appointments as your teeth begin to move, which is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief if needed. We provide a comprehensive guide to eating, cleaning, and managing your braces at the start of treatment. Certain hard and sticky foods are best avoided during treatment, and a mouthguard is strongly recommended for contact sport. Most patients adapt quickly and find braces less intrusive than they expected
After braces — retention
Retention is permanent. Once your braces are removed, a thin wire is bonded behind your upper and lower front teeth, and a removable clear retainer is provided for night-time wear. Teeth will shift without retention — this is normal biology, not a sign of treatment failure — and patients who wear their retainers consistently maintain their results indefinitely.
